Are you struggling with a lack of motivation to work out? Don’t worry! This is something that everyone will experience! Even expert trainers. While we love moving and staying active, we definitely have those days when a workout is the last thing we want to do. That’s when we call for some backup! Here are some of the ways we stay motivated to workout:
Find Some Support
Whether it’s a friend, family member or an online community, working out with someone else is always more fun. Not only can they keep you accountable, but they can also cheer you on and help you push your limits. The next time you plan to meet up with a good friend, why not go for a run together or do a workout class?
Reward Yourself
Having something to look forward to can definitely help with your training motivation. If you are dreading a workout, plan to reward yourself after you complete it. Some of our favourite “reward” activities include taking a long bath, going out for a special dinner, or treating ourselves to a shopping trip. Whatever reward you decide on, make sure it’s something that YOU are excited about and looking forward to!
Switch It Up
Boredom can also lead to feeling unmotivated to work out. Sometimes all you need to get fired up to exercise is a little change in your routine. Instead of doing the same exercises, try something new. If you lift weights all the time, try yoga. Or if you usually go for a run, try kickboxing. Group fitness classes and workout subscriptions are great ways to add more variety to your training schedule. So is changing up the location of where you workout. Be bold and try something different!
Join A Challenge
Fitness challenges are another tool that we use to get excited about a little sweat. These programs not only help with motivation, but they will also give you the opportunity to work towards specific goals. The variety that comes with fitness challenges can also add some spice to your routine and change things up. This in turn can lead to better results and increased motivation. The structured schedule in a fitness challenge can also lead to habit formation. You get so used to feeling good physically and mentally, that you won’t want to stop after the challenge ends!
