Planning a summer vacation but worried about not making (or even losing) your fitness gains while you are away? Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here are four tips that can help you stay active and in shape while still enjoying some time away.
Modify Your Workouts
If you are not motivated to do your regular workouts during vacation, tweak them to make them more enjoyable. This is a great way to stick to your goals while you are on vacation. Here are some ideas:
Pack For Activity
Don’t have access to a gym during your vacation? Bring your gym with you! We never leave for a vacation without our resistance bands, sliders and jump rope. These items are light, portable and very effective workout tools. In addition to packing workout equipment, don’t forget to pack appropriate clothes and shoes for working out. Even if you don’t plan to work out, it’s always a good idea to pack some active wear as backup.
Plan For An Active Holiday
Staying fit on vacation does not mean you have to do a workout in your hotel gym. Instead, include fun recreational activities in your holiday itinerary. Hiking, kayaking, swimming or even a walk will help you get some physical activity while exploring your surroundings. If you are going on vacation with your family or a big group of friends, incorporate activities that everyone can participate in, such as swimming or playing volleyball. This will help you bond with your loved ones while staying active.
Use Your Bodyweight
Don’t underestimate the power of a good bodyweight workout! Whether you’re doing five minutes of lunges in your hotel room or going for a run, you can have a good workout wherever you are with just your body weight. Check out our section of sweaty bodyweight workouts available on demand.
Vacation is a time to relax and recharge, so don't stress too much about your fitness routine. If you can maintain some level of physical activity, that's already a step in the right direction. Listen to your body and find a balance that works for you. Don’t forget to enjoy your summer!
