Here at Sweat Nation, we love fitness challenges! They are one of our favourite ways to get active because they offer so many benefits. Fitness challenges are created by our trainers who know exactly how to help you achieve your goals with accountability and a complete experience of workouts and nutrition. Joining a fitness challenge is a great way to add some variety to your regular routine by trying something new. And most importantly, sticking to a structured schedule in a dedicated program can result in habit formation. You get so used to feeling good physically and mentally, that you won’t want to stop after the challenge ends!
But there are sooooo many fitness challenges out there. Different styles, lengths, intensities, focuses and even where to do them. How do you pick the right one for you? Here are some things to consider:
Your Preferences
This is the most important thing to consider when choosing a fitness challenge. If you choose a challenge that you don’t enjoy or does not suit your needs, you won’t be motivated to complete it. What forms of physical activity do you enjoy? Do you prefer individual training or something that has a social component? Longer or shorter challenges? Do you want nutrition and recovery support? Do you like more rigid or flexible programs? Follow along videos you can watch anywhere or something to print out? What is the style of coaching that you prefer?
Your Lifestyle
You should choose a fitness challenge that fits your current way of life. That way, you'll actually complete the program as intended. It’s important to consider the other commitments that you have in your life and how much time you can spend actually working out. Access to workout equipment and space is another thing that you should consider here.
Your Fitness Level & Health
Choosing an advanced fitness challenge when you are just starting your fitness journey will only intimidate you and lead to failure. Instead, choose a fitness challenge that is suitable to your level of fitness. We always encourage you to push a little harder, but it can't be something that's completely out of your element. You should also consider any injuries or medical conditions that may affect your ability to exercise.
Your Goals
Before starting any program make sure to reflect on what you want to achieve. In other words, find your “Why”. Do you want to shed fat, become stronger, or get in shape for summer? This will result in better outcomes and keep you motivated to complete the challenge and maintain those good habits you form.
Now that you know how to choose a challenge that is right for you, take the leap and try one out for yourself! We are having a Black Fitday Sale that includes 40% off all of our challenges (use code: BF40). You don't need to wait until January 1st start something new. Let us know how it goes!
